Michter’s 10 Year Old Single Barrel .Resurrected after going into administration in the late 80s, today Michter’s produces some of the finest small-batch bourbon whiskey on the planet. This 10 Year Old Single Barrel is no exception, with a beautiful harmonious balance of sweetness and earthiness, the flavor harks back to the early techniques used by Michter’s master distillers and is exceptionally refined and undeniably robust. With a dark caramel, molasses-like color and mouthfeel akin to butter, as well as overbearing toffee and vanilla on the palate, this is a remarkable bourbon whiskey that must be tasted to be believed.
The Michter’s brand name is a historic one. Produced during the middle of the 20th century at the historic Bomberger’s distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, (where whiskey under many different names had been made since before the Revolutionary War) Michter’s was a popular brand of sour mash whiskey first created by Charles Everett Beam. The brand was discontinued due to bankruptcy in the late 1980s, but a little over a decade ago the brand was revived by two entrepreneurs wuo acquired the rights to the relevant trademarks. It is now made in Kentucky. Each year Michter’s releases a ten-year-old single-barrel bourbon in very limited quantities. This release is a well-integrated whiskey with a lovely balance between creamy and spicy. It is extremely thick and coating, with a lingering muted spiciness.
NOTICE: Many other small liquor store sites will end up cancelling your order due to the high demand, unavailability or inaccurate inventory counts. We have the ability to source from a large network of licensed retailers to insure in most cases your order is fulfilled.
One of Michter’s most limited production items, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s).
After a nearly three year absence from the market, Master Distiller Willie Pratt finally gave the green light for the re-release of Michter’s 10 Year Straight Rye in April 2014.
